Message from the Aerie Worthy President John Hirte
I know that Covid had a significant impact on our Aerie but, with your help, we can reset together. Ideas are being generated and can come to fruition with teamwork and cooperation. So far, we have had several successful events this year that we can build upon going forward.
My charity this year is Supporting Afghan Families. This organization is committed to fulfilling the promise that was made to the Afghan people over 20 years ago. When the decision was made to pull out, many US citizens and Afghan partners were trapped. Supporting Afghan Families provides them with much needed life support and communication resources to coordinate their rescue. Since May, 17 families have been rescued. We want to continue this support until all citizens and those Afghans that worked with us have been able to escape the horror of the Taliban. More information see: www.supportingafghanfamilies.org. There is also a very good documentary on Amazon Prime: Send Me It is the story of 12 veterans, led by the spouse of a catastrophically wounded veteran, who went to Kabul during the fall of Afghanistan to evacuate as many souls as they could before time expired. So far, we have contributed $580 with a dollar-for-dollar matching commitment up to $500, so we are off to a good start.
Again, I look forward to meeting more of you at the various events throughout the year.

Message from Aerie Secretary October is final here, and we are looking at a good start with Eagle events and charity work. The Publicity and Marketing Committee has been working to partner with the community to do charity work. We joined the Keizer Chambers which is very exciting. The group has been working with Grand Aerie Marketing Department and Grants Department. More communications to our Aerie and Auxiliary members by mail, email, telephone calling, Facebook, Instagram, our events Information monitor at the Aerie will be back up and running and many more media platforms. We are looking forward to sending members a survey throughout the year. I want to talk a little bit about our dances. I know that you’re probably thinking the door cover charge is too much and that you don’t like that band. Unfortunately, since Covid we have lost a few of our bands that we like and the cost of having a band has gone up and in some cases have doubled in price. Remember, the members that like to dance had a beautiful dance floor and stage installed and we need to use it. We are in a learning curve on how to have easy dinner meals prepared with what we have in our kitchen. You’ll see more potlucks with our events and new to our Aerie, dessert potlucks. I hope to see more of you at our events. Ann Madsen Aerie Secretary

Message from the Publicity and Marketing Committee –I'm thrilled to share some exciting news with you all. Starting this October and continuing throughout the year, we have a fantastic lineup of events planned that will not only be a ton of fun but also benefit our beloved community. To kick off October, we're launching a diaper drive to support Family Building Blocks, a local non-profit organization. It's an excellent opportunity for us to give back to our community, and we can't wait to see your generous contributions. But that's not all! We're spicing up our Sunday events with live bands, creating a lively atmosphere that you won't want to miss. Come on down and enjoy some great music while making a positive impact on our local area. Mondays are getting a makeover too! Starting from October 2, we're bringing back the beloved Monday night burgers and bingo. Get ready for delicious food and exciting games. And the excitement doesn't stop there. We're in the process of scheduling karaoke nights, reviving the Queen of Hearts, and planning a fantastic Thursday Night Family Night. There's something for everyone in our upcoming lineup. In addition to all these exciting events, we have recently become a part of the Keizer Chamber of Commerce. This means we'll be hosting a meet and greet with local businesses to create networking opportunities and share information about membership. It's a fantastic chance to connect and grow. We value your input and ideas immensely. Our goal is to provide our members with the best entertainment and events possible. So, please don't hesitate to reach out with your thoughts and suggestions. Your feedback is essential in helping us serve you better. Lastly, if you're interested in lending a hand and assisting with any of these activities, please reach out. Volunteers are the backbone of our Aerie's success, and we'd love to have your support. Thank you for being a part of our incredible community. Let's make these upcoming events unforgettable together! 🦅🎉 Fraternally, Christina D. Wood, Publicity and Marketing Chair |
ALBANY EAGLES #2255 HAS THE HONOR OF HOSTING MID-WINTER 2023!!!! "SOARING THRU THE WILLAMETTE VALLEY" Many of you have heard that the Albany Aerie and Auxiliary has been given the honor to host the upcoming Mid-Winter conference, Nov. 3rd, 4th, and 5th, 2023. This is one of the bigger conferences in the state. It is also a scholarship competition for all students in Oregon, the parents of the contestants and some Grand Dignitaries. We need more volunteers in our planning committee. Our next meeting will be Sept. 17th @ 2pm. Please come and help us get our lodge and everything ready for this event. We will need all sorts of volunteers. Crystal and Brandan Urban are the State Chairmen and Jenny Wood and RaAnne Green are the local chairmen, and we will be happy to have help or answer any questions. Many things are also done at Mid-Winter. We will have grab bags to sell, so we are asking anyone who has knick-knacks, cards, puzzles, games, jewelry, scarves, reusable grocery bags or anything that you don't want and someone else might like. Please put them in a box or bag labeled "grab bags" and bring to the Aerie by Oct. 17th, that is when we are putting them together. There will also be 2 baskets raffled off for the Aerie and Auxiliary, and any money made from these baskets will be split between Aerie and Auxiliary. During the banquet the Membership Chairman will be giving out membership awards. So, please come down and help us get ready for this and you might just have a great time. The contestants are wonderful to watch and listen to as well.
